What is RAIN?

What’s the difference between RAIN and RAIN{indie}?
A.
RAIN is an upgraded version of RAIN{indie}. More features, easier to use, still free. RAIN is offered on the Unity Asset Store, Directly from Rival Theory, as well as in the mod tool FPS Control.

Is RAIN{indie} still supported?
A.

Is RAIN the only technology you have for creating AI?
A.
If you are using Unity 4.0 or above, RAIN is the premier solution for all triple-A studios, students, and hobbyists. Sentio is our technology platform that allows living characters to persist over time, existing outside of a single game or application and seamlessly moving between apps and devices at runtime.

Should I use Sentio instead of RAIN?
A.
For the majority of developers that are looking for a solution to solve traditional game AI problems, such as pathfinding, behavior, obstacle avoidance etc. RAIN is the right choice. For organizations that are developing games, applications, interactive toys, and films that require unique, believable and intelligent personalities with learning, emotion, and memory, Sentio is the solution. Sentio is a completely different approach for creating AI in entertainment and is only currently available to select partners.

RAIN allows you, the AI designer, to focus on designing behavior instead of building AI framework. RAIN will do the majority of the heavy lifting for you.

What kind of support do you offer?

You can check out our Community Portal for help, download sample projects, consult our documentation, and report bugs. We are serious about supporting your efforts, updating the software to add features and correct problems, and generally doing what we can to make RAIN work for you. Just let us know how we can help. Are updates free?

Yes! All 2.x updates are free and accessible via the Unity Asset Store or our website. We will have corresponding updates to documentation and tutorials to make learning RAIN as easy as possible. You can register to be automatically notified of updates by signing up here.
